- Malaysia plans to implement new strict regulations on vapes and atomizing products in August to fill existing legal loopholes. The Minister of Health said that although the implementation of the regulations has been postponed several times, the relevant laws and orders are expected to come into effect in August.
- Supreme, a British vapedistributor, saw its revenue increase by 42% in the year ending March 2024, from £155.6 million to £221 million, while its adjusted earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) increased by 96% to £38.1 million, mainly benefiting from its distribution agreements with ELF BAR and LOST MARY.
- Norway recently implemented a number of new regulations, including a ban on adding flavors to vapes, which means that only tobacco-flavored vapes can be purchased in Norwegian stores.
- Philip Morris International has been accused of “manipulating science for profit” and working with scientists by funding research, planning to use politicians, doctors and the 2020 Tokyo Olympics to promote the heated tobacco product IQOS. They responded that their participation was legal and necessary.
- In May 2024, China’s exports of vapes to the Netherlands were about 422.3 million US dollars, a decrease of 0.6% from the previous month and an increase of 18.3% from the previous year; the export volume was about 1,240 tons, an increase of 15.21% from the previous month and an increase of 60.38% from the previous year.
- In 2023, the tobacco industry developed in a complex and changing environment.
