1. In February 2024, China’s vape exports to the United States were approximately US$182 million, a month-on-month decrease of 48.09%, and a year-on-year increase of 25.51%; the export volume was approximately 3,934 tons, a month-on-month decrease of 48.66%, and a year-on-year increase of 34.01%.
2. Australian Health Minister Butler proposed the 2024 vapereform bill in parliament. The bill aims to strictly restrict the import, distribution and supply of all vapes and integrate them into the established pharmaceutical supply chain. Additionally, the bill strengthens civil fines for vapeviolations.
3. Canada’s Health Minister promised to take strong measures to combat nicotine bag products and accused Imperial Tobacco Company’s nicotine bag product Zonnic of targeting minors in its marketing.
4. The city government of Jacksonville, North Carolina, USA voted to implement stricter regulations onvapecompanies. The newly approved restrictions will ban future vape shops from setting up operations near schools and residential areas.
5. Philip Morris International has launched a new cigarette cartridge product “TEREA ABER PEARL” in South Korea. It will be sold in IQOS stores and convenience stores in South Korea on March 21, with a price of 4,800 won ((US$3.61)) .
6. The southern Italian city of San Giorgio Colemano has begun distributing used vapecontainers to local tobacco shops for collection. Currently, 12 tobacco shops licensed to sell vapes have accepted the offer.
7. The Australian Health Minister announced a legislative reform of vapes and called on Parliament to pass the bill to protect the health of adolescents. The bill was supported by various medical and health agencies.
